Morning Gardening

~ The Garden in June ~
For the past few weeks I've made it my routine to start the day with a cup of coffee, a bowl of cereal w/berries and a bit of computer time.  Once the coffee cup is empty I head out the door for time in the garden.  Today I snipped the last of the lettuce and picked the first cherry tomato.  I make my way around the yard with my snippers and weed bucket deadheading day lilies and anything else that needs it as I go.  If I see weeds I pull them.  I finish up by cleaning and filling the birdbath and watering all of the potted plants.

I'm usually back in the house by 10:00 all ready for my 2nd cup of coffee.  It's my way of beating the heat and keeping tabs on how things are doing in the garden.  I find if I miss too many days the weeds have a field day.

Happy Gardening & Welcome June!!

Kim, I appreciate this post. I am in a losing battle right now, but you make it seem so "enjoyable". Have a great weekend. xo

OH how right you are about weeding, I have started this same routine of checking for weeds daily, and it is working out just fine. My hydrangeas are doing beautifully this year, and when I see them I always think of you. Enjoy your weekend.

Sue

Your morning sounds much like mine. I tend to go out into the yard every few hours. Afraid I'll miss something!

You have such beautiful gardens, Kim. I'm going to have to adjust my schedule so I can get up earlier to weed and water before it gets too hot. My hydrangea is slowly coming back from last year, but no where near blooming. It must need moving to a new spot. Love your collage!
Have a great weekend!

Kim,
I can't believe how gorgeous your back yard is. It is so green and groomed. It looks like you take such good care of it. The red flower is so vibrant with color.

Hi Kim,

Your garden is gorgeous!! Love your blue hydrangeas. Do you add anything to the soil to get achieve their color? Love your gate and the walkway. I'd love to have your routine in the morning. Hopefully, I can retire in another 6-8 years!! With daylight coming so early sometimes I'm out in the garden with coffee at 6:00 a.m. picking weeds. I still have so much to do in the backyard. Love the collage you created with your photos.

So your first boyfriend lived in Old Rosedale Gardens? Did you look at the website? It looked so bare in 1930. Now it's filled with old trees and lovely gardens! Can't wait to see more of your garden this year!

Hugs, Sandy

Sounds like a wonderful routine. I bought some cherry tomatoes this week but I know they aren't as good as your home grown tomatoes!

Hi Kim, sorry it's taken me so long to get back here! Life is too busy, days too short!!

Love your garden pics - your many, many hydrangea bushes are so beautiful. Glad you're trying the moonflowers up the fishing line - mine are already up to the top of the porch rail and will probably be several more feet up by the time we return from Africa!

I'm going to miss the garden now at it's prettiest before the hot weather arrives..................I'll come back to see what's keeping you busy around your lovely garden when I return.

Your garden looks so beautiful!

My little flower pot garden has also been keeping me busy as even flower pot soil seems to grow weeds...ll the rain we've been having gave them a head start.

I'm also harvesting many strawberries..they are doing so well this season.I have a big bowl full every day!

No wonder you have such a beautiful garden. You know how to put first things first, and you have the routine down perfectly. I like how you go inside for your second cup of coffee, when you have your work completed. Coffee is a great reward in my book.
