Over the weekend we hosted a holiday party for a group of neighbors.
There were 23 of us in all.
I had intended to snap a few photos throughout the evening, but this is the only one I took.
One neighbor came early and assembled her homemade sangria.
Many oranges and lemons were juiced for this.
It was very tasty as well as festive.
Next to it is one of the waxed amaryllis I mentioned in my previous post. They arrived the day before Thanksgiving. This one is just beginning to emerge from the bulb. There are four of them. I'm curious to see how they do. One hasn't started to grow yet. They are supposed to take 3-5 weeks til bloom time. They require no care and can be placed anywhere according to the instruction label. I like that type of gardening, especially at this busy time of year.
Hosting this party forced me to do my Christmas decorating early.
Also forced me to clean the house more thoroughly than normal.
I'm happy to report that the party was a success and now it is so nice to relax and enjoy the clean and decorated house.
Have a wonderful week!!

It sounds a very pleasant gathering.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds so nice! The Sangria looks good!
ReplyDeleteThe sangria does look rather tempting and a beautiful rich colour. 23 people is a lot to cater for and entertain, I worry and get in a flap when it is just my immediate neighbours coming round!
ReplyDeleteThe party for the neighbours sounds like fun. We used to have those in various homes down our street. That was when we all knew each other. Now new folks have moved into almost all the houses and hardly anyone is home during the day so one doesn't get to know them.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely and a great start to your Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to host a neighbourhood party! It's good motivation for decorating and cleaning, too. The sangria looks delicious. I had one of the waxed bulbs last year and a gardening expert told me to pull the wax off and plant it in stones as usual, so I did. But others have had success with just leaving it be. I'll be curious to see yours in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a nice start to the season. That is a healthy amaryllis.
ReplyDeleteI need some sangria. And a slice of that pie that's in your blog header. :) Happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteI love the milk for Santa bottle.
ReplyDeleteThe party to get the season started sounds lovely.
I've never had an amaryllis.
Twenty-three people at your house? That's quite a crowd! Glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful that the party as a success and now it's done and dusted with a happy holiday home to boot.
