Daisies For Your Day

I think iced tea just might taste better in a daisy covered glass.

And I'm convinced the lemon is mixed in better with a daisy swizzle stick.

Daisies seem to be occupying my thoughts this week.  It could be because I recently watched one of my favorite old movies, "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" or it might be because the daisies in my garden are just beginning to bloom.

It might be because they were my mom's favorite flowers and I always think of her when I see them or it might be because of the joy I receive after visiting Kim at Dear Daisy Cottage.

In fact, it was this post that inspired me to buy this little oil painting when I was at the thrift shop today.

Whatever the reason, I'm glad to be seeing daisies this week because they are such a happy flower and happy is how I want to be.

~ I want to be happy, but I won't be happy, til I make you happy too ~

Have a happy day!!

Flowers on a Cloudy Day

I've got sunshine flowers on a cloudy day and when it's cold outside, I've got the month of May . . .
Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?

Oops, please don't mind my singing and I hope the Temptations won't mind me taking liberties with their lyrics :).  It's just that I've been having a little fun this morning and that song just keeps running through my head.

After learning that there was a setting on my camera for cloudy days (who knew), I decided to head for the garden on this cloudy, drizzly day.  My mission was to see if I could take a picture of the magnolias while they were in bloom.  Once I got out there I discovered that there was only one bloom and it was nearing the end of it's prime.

Luckily there are plenty of plump buds getting ready to reveal their exquisite beauty.

The hydrangeas are starting to put on their show.

Some are a little further along . . .

than others.

As the raindrops began to fall, I quickly looked for some more candidates for this cloudy day photo shoot.

Nothing like flowers to brighten up a cloudy day in May.

Fluffin' and Sprucin'

I'm doing a bit of featherin' today.  Featherin' my nest that is.  It seems that with all the time spent working outside in the garden, the nest is looking a bit neglected.

This morning it is raining.  So while mother nature takes care of things outside, I will be inside shinin' and sprucin'.

Washin' and ironin'.

I'm so glad I cut some peonies before the rain got to them.  It will be nice to enjoy them up close and personal as I whiz by them with the vacuum and dust rag.

I've got my work cut out for me today, but I don't mind.  In fact I'm kinda looking forward to it.  Since my husband won't be home for dinner, I'll be working along at my own pace.  A little work, a coffee break, some more work, a blog break :-).  No pressure here today.

Mother's Day Wishes

Hey gals, Mother's Day is almost here and in honor of all the hard working moms out there, I invite you to take off your aprons, set down your mixing bowls and come on over for a visit.  I've been out buying flowers today and it's nearly 90 degrees.  I'm so ready for a few minutes to put up my feet and sit and chat.  Won't you join me?

Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable.

Can I get you a cup of coffee or tea?  Perhaps on this warm day you'd prefer a cup of my frosty spiced iced tea?

I'll be right back with those drinks, but in the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy the flowers.

And the butterflies. . .

And tell me all about your plans for Mother's Day.
I'm all ears.

Thanks for stopping by today and as I stand at the door waving goodbye, I send you off with my best wishes for a wonderful and Happy Mother's Day.

~ Anticipation ~

The buds on my hydrangea plants are telling me that it won't be much longer before they are blooming.  I can hardly wait.  I think they are one of the most gorgeous flowers and every year I eagerly anticipate their arrival.

Yesterday I cleaned and sharpened my pruners so when the time comes I'll be ready to cut some to bring in the house.

In the meantime a bit of hydrangea decor was added to the family room.  While running errands the other day I decided to take a quick lunch break at Cracker Barrel.  Well, I don't think it's possible to eat there without checking out the little store, is it?  On this day I was so glad I did.  These hydrangea topiaries were in the clearance section ... in the far corner ... waaaay up on the top shelf.  I almost missed them.  Happily, I spotted them and a nice tall man brought them down for me.  I think they were just the thing that was needed to flank the hydrangea picture that has been hanging up there for many years.

I shopped the attic to find some coordinating accessories.

It's been raining all day today, but that's okay with me.  I'm hoping that after a good soaking those hydrangeas will be ready to bloom even sooner.
