In A Tiny Little House

In a far corner of my backyard . . .

High above the azaleas . . .

There is a tiny little house.

And in this tiny little house there are 5 beautiful blue eggs. So small and so perfect.

Inside these blue eggs is everything needed to create 5 of these.
Isn't nature amazing?
The first time I saw an Eastern Bluebird it was love at first sight. I think they are such a beautiful bird. When I learned more about them I discovered that not too long ago they were very close to extinction. If you want to find out more about that you can click here. I was encouraged to learn that we could make a difference just by putting up a bluebird house in our backyards. Nine years ago we put two bluebird houses in our backyard. Since then we have enjoyed watching many bluebird families hatch right under our noses, not to mention the feeling of satisfaction we've gotten to know that we played a small part in keeping these pretty birds in existence so that we can all enjoy their beauty.
If you have had experiences with bluebirds in your yard, I'd love to hear about it. If not I would encourage you to try adding a bluebird house to your yard. If you enjoy backyard birds I'm sure you will find it to be a rewarding experience.

Happy In My Garden Home

I can't imagine how they all know this.

But it seems that those who know me best

think I love anything garden related. . .

Now, I really don't know where they get that idea.

Do you?

Well, I do have a few books on the subject.

Well, okay . . .
maybe more than a few.

And when you're reading all those books you need a place to put your feet . . .
especially if you've been working in the garden all day and you're tired.

Well, don't tabletops looks prettier with some flowers and a birds nest on them??

Or some ivy, a bunny & floral eggs???

Okay, so much for being a woman of mystery.
Do I care that most of my birthday gifts are garden related?
Heck No!!!! I couldn't be happier. When my 22 year old son gave me this all wrapped up in a garden themed gift bag . . .

And my 20 year old son gave me this looking so pretty in a floral gift bag . . .
I was one Happy Mama.

Speaking of happy ~
Blog friends and their sweet birthday wishes make me happy too. Thanks for your comments.

A Restful Day

Well, another Easter has come and gone. I hope you all had a wonderful day. We had a great Easter from start to finish. The weather was sunny and close to 70 degrees. So after church, a visit to see my mom and getting the dinner in the oven we were able to play a few games of Bocce Ball and Jarts. The boy cousins enjoyed tossing around the Nerf football and we all enjoyed being outside with the sunshine, blue skies and fresh air.
When I went down to the mailbox today I was greeted by the first bloom on my clematis.

I always love the day after hosting a holiday gathering. After all the work that goes into preparing the meal, cleaning the house, etc. it is such a great feeling to wake up to a clean house and a refrigerator full of leftovers. This year we had a lot of food and I was able to send everyone home with care packages including a few college age kids who were thrilled to receive it. So now today I tossed the tablecloth and napkins into the washer, put the ham bone and some split peas on the stove to simmer it's way to a delicious split pea soup and I'm grabbing my book, my puppy and a cup of tea. It was a lot of work to host Easter, but today I get to relax and reflect. Oh yes. . . and I get to work on finishing up those leftover cupcakes :-) We wouldn't want to be wasteful now, would we?

Easter Preparations

The table is set.

The butter lamb is made.

Our Easter bonnets are ready.

The outdoors have been decorated.

Even my favorite dogwood tree which is half white and half pink.

Now I'd better get that cleaning, cooking & baking done.
So, until next week ~
I wish you a Happy & Blessed Easter.

Hop On In And Take A Peek

Ah, Spring . . .

As the earth awakens from it's long winters nap and the dormant trees, shrubs and flowers spring to life once again, the landscape slowly begins to fill with color. Each year it happens and each year it is a beautiful sight to behold. Every day brings something new to appreciate. The world is alive once again and the birdies are falling in love. ♥

Just this week I noticed the first bluebird nest in my yard. It always makes my heart sing to watch the nests be built, the eggs be laid and the babies be born. And, oh how precious to watch the mom & dad fly back and forth with food for the sweet little babes.

Mr. Bunny would like me to remind you that the birds aren't the only ones who fall in love and have babies.

He and Mrs. Bunny want to share with you a little peek at how the bunnies have been multiplying around here.

They are showing up in their Sunday best for tea parties.

Doing a little indoor gardening.

Gracing the dining room sideboard.

Looking pretty in pink.

Lending a bit of Spring cheer to the breakfast table.

Making mouths water.

Reminding us of days gone by.

And, best of all increasing our anticipation for Easter Day.
