Happiness is a Hydrangea (or two) in the Home

As I sat sipping my coffee this morning, thoughts of my next blog post were running through my mind.  I have been thinking that maybe it's time to post on something other than flowers and my garden.  As I was mulling this over, I somehow migrated to the backyard with clippers and camera in hand.

Knowing that it won't be much longer that my Nikko Blue Hydrangeas will be in bloom, I thought I'd better cut a few more bouquets while the cutting is still good.

Earlier in the week I discovered this pitcher and bowl set which I thought was perfect for my kitchen.

Of course a few hydrangeas could kick the perfection factor up a notch, don't you think?  :-)

I couldn't resist pairing them up with this toile tablerunner.

It should be a cheery centerpiece in my blue and yellow kitchen.  I hope you don't mind me sharing my hydrangea happiness with you once again.  I'm outnumbered by men in my house and they just don't get as excited by these things as I do, if you know what I mean ;-).

Now, I promise my next post won't involve my flowers or my garden.  But before I go I'll show you a couple more flowers I took pictures of ...

Easter in June

I always buy an Easter Lily to have inside at Eastertime.  Since moving to North Carolina 11 years ago I have been planting them outside when the danger of frost is past.

This was a garden tip I read about in our local paper and I'm so glad I tried it because it works  ~ really well.

Last, but not least, one of my very favorite things about living in the south ~ the sweet and elegant magnolia.

From my happy home, that is now filled with hydrangeas, I wish you a most beautiful weekend.

  1. I love Hydrangeas. They grow a lot of them up in the north California town of Ferndale, which is my favorite place, but I don't get up there as much as I'd like too. I brought some home one year after vacationing there and planted it in my flower bed but it did not survive. I think because SoCal is hot and dry and it needed cool and moist.

  8. Isn't it fun that we can both post about flowers, and have totally different flowers to share. I think I will never tire of one single picture of blue hydrangaes. Your pitcher and bowl are beautiful! Please remember, I personally will never tire of any of your garden or flower pictures...never.

  10. Your hydrangeas are gorgeous. Such a brilliant color of blue. A lovely little setting. Blue and yellow work perfectly together. Nice embroidered linens and pretty hankies too. All your garden blooms are gorgeous. Since many things cannot survive the summer heat here, I do love seeing all the beautiful flowers everyone else has to share. Best wishes to you for a wonderful weekend. :) Tammy

  11. I could look at your lovely hydrangeas every day. Because I've had two hydrangea plants and somehow lost both of them before I ever even got a bloom. So seeing yours helps, because I love them.

  17. I don't mind your writing about whatever suits your fancy. Must admit that I'm finding myself thinking that I'm going to run out of flowers to photograph soon. ;> It is fun to see everyone's garden at this time of year and since I have no hydrangeas, I'll enjoy yours. You have the perfect complements to them as well. I really enjoyed reading your new welcome, too. It made me feel perfectly at home here at your table.
