Ready For A Ride

Hello and Happy Summer.
In honor of the sweet summertime, I have decided to get really wild and bring my old bike out of hiding.  I bought it at a thrift shop a few years ago and had visions of making it a part of the garden decor.  That is until my boys saw it and thought I'd lost my marbles for purchasing something so ancient.  Then I began having second thoughts and let it collect dust in the garage.

But, hey it's a new day.  The boys have flown the nest so I say out comes the bike.  Since they aren't here to poke fun at me, I am going to do a little playing.  Keeps me young ... or so I tell myself.

This morning I was doing some after the storm clean-up in the garden.  We had big thunderstorms last night with lots and lots of lightning.  So, while out picking up branches I noticed how pretty the hydrangeas were looking and thought why not deck out the old blue bike a bit.  Hee Hee, wouldn't the boys be horrified if they saw this?

~ Wishing you a fun-filled summer ~

  2. You find the best stuff! I'd like a bike like that, but I probably would never ride it. I always picture a nice quite level paved country road somewhere, on a cool day with a back wind, no traffic. It's more fun to think about it. :D

  7. I am sure your boys would not understand, but I think you have such a sense of style. The bike and hydrangeous make a great look. If I was walking by your home, I would probably go back home and dig out my old bicycle. I smiled as I read this post though because I have some daughters that have some questions about me too.

  9. Oh, that bike brings back sweet memories! I had one like that only it was red and white. I'd display it too if I had one! The hydrangeas go great with the color of your bike. I love it!

  10. I'm with Ceekay! Phooey on what the boys think. My boys think I am lame and everything I do is loserish. ha! That bike is great. Love the color. My brother and I had one of those two seater bikes we used to ride around together. That was a long time ago. :) I haven't ridden a real bike in so long ... I think I would stick with decorating it too. Have a fabulous day. Tammy

  16. Let them be horrified! I say go for it, your bike looks absolutely darling decked out with hydrangeas! Good for you. I love that bike, I bought one a few years ago sight unseen, I had in mind that I wanted exactly what you have there, the one I got was not nearly so cute, but it does the job. But not nearly as beautifully as yours!
I'm so glad you found my blog, I love finding women who like to decorate house and garden in a playful manner, don't you?
