Outsmarting Mr. Squirrel

"Oh look, a new feeder"

"Up I go, time for lunch"

"Hmmm...  wonder how I'm supposed to get in there?

"This doesn't seem to be working."

"Looks like I better come up with another plan."

 " I think I'll try this angle"

"I've tried every one of the holes and no food will come out!"

"This is my last ditch effort and it was a dismal failure :("

"Can you believe we finally get to eat our own food?"

"Hey lady, congratulations... I think you've finally outsmarted Mr. Squirrel"

****

If you like to feed the birds too, you are no doubt very familiar with this scenario.  We've tried many different "squirrel proof" feeders through the years and, so far, this seems to be the best.
When the squirrels put their weight on the perch around the bottom, it pulls a little door down over the feeding holes.  The birds are so light that they can perch there and the holes stay open.
This one is called the Squirrel Buster Plus.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!

  1. We have those type of feeders, too from Wild Birds unlimited. You sure get some acrobatic squirrels, don't you? They are so funny to watch! Then they figure out it's easier to eat under the feeder! lol Take care!

  7. Hope that it keeps right on working for you. Such beautiful birds to watch right outside your window. If I ever take to feeding birds, I'd like one of those because the squirrels around here are legion.

  11. My husband has looked for something that works. I just tell him that squirrels are hungry, too, and not to worry about it. :-)

  12. Leave it to you to present a fool proof bird feeder, including squirrel pictures, and do it all in such a beautiful fashion. Your photography is exceptional! Not only that, my mother is going to be so happy when I show this to her. Believe me, she thought she tried every squirrel proof feeder there was and to no avail. Thanks so much for this valuable info.

    Happy Monday my friend!

  16. At our house in Oklahoma we had lots of squirrels. Guess what they learned to do....hang upside down from the hook to reach the food! Where there's a will there's a way. Ours found the way!

  17. Those cute, but pesky squirrels never give up, do they? LOL! I will have to see if I can find this bird feeder. Have a nice weekend!
