It seems like after all of these years of blogging, I'd find it quite simple to change up the header and background for the seasons.
However, that is so not the case.
I find it a test of my patience each time I make the attempt.
What worked last time doesn't seem to work the next time.
Gigantic headers, off center headers, chopped off headers.
♫ Fa La La La La ♫

I think I need a course in Easy, Effortless Blog Design 101.
I've been plucking away at it now for close to an hour...
even consulted my blog bible... the place where I jot down tips and tricks I see along the way.
My efforts have yielded a re-run of last years efforts and this time part of the header is chopped off.  Egads!!
I consulted that link I have bookmarked... the one telling me how to center my header.  It worked like a charm last time.  Not so much this time.
Ho Ho Ho
When I finished creating this masterpiece and went to "view blog" I thought "what a big, busy looking mess I've made"
It didn't help that my colorful Thanksgiving collage was residing right below the header.  Talk about too much going on at once.
In the interest of making things somewhat less busy, a sparkly white candle has replaced the collage.

Alright, now that I have gotten that off my chest...
onto more pleasant topics.
Isn't this a fun time to wander through blogland?
Inspiration to be found at every turn.
I am so enjoying the opportunity to tour decorated homes, pick up simple ideas for cooking, baking, wrapping, etc.
I also love reading about the different traditions people embrace during the holiday season.
Every year I am reminded of what a joy and pleasure it is to be able to do this.
There's been a lot of talk recently about how blogging has changed so much in the past few years.  I agree, but I also think there's a place for all of us and for that I am thankful.

Until next time (when I hope to be done with the Christmas decorating),

  1. I was thinking what a beautiful banner you had and the first photo was so pretty. But I know what you mean...when you haven't done something in awhile, it's a challenge. I used to make my headers I make them 918 and they look better to me. I thought of you today. I put my cute button on my sidebar with the pixies you sent me a few years ago. Of course the first time I put it up there, I forgot to resize it and it was HUGE! You would have laughed if you had visited me at that time. I went into crisis mode trying to find the button sized photo! haha! What a coincidence that you would post this tonight! Happy holidays! Sweet hugs, Diane and the pixies

  2. Your new header and background paper are very pretty. I have problems with these things too and my 'bible' is always handy to review the steps but things change. I've been using pic monkey for my header pictures lately and it works just right. I don't want to get too complicated or I'd have to just up and quit blogging all together! I'm getting too old for changes. I like the white dishes in your hutch and the pretty candle. Enjoy the weekend. Pam

  3. Easy, Effortless Blog Design 101. I sure could make use of that! I rely on my kids to help me in a pinch, otherwise I muddle along but I'd love to know how to do things on my own. I do love your header. Also your white dishes!

  4. Kim, I admire anyone who will dare touch something like the banner on their blog. I wouldn't have a clue how to do that or the patience. Yours looks beautiful.

I still love blogging even with all the changes. I agree with you that everyone has a place. :)

  5. I didn't even realize your header was chopped off until you mentioned it and was thinking how pretty it looked. : )
I just put pictures on my headers and blogger just shrinks it to fit.
You have the prettiest things in your home. Everything always looks exactly right.

  6. It looks really pretty. All I know is what works for me. I dare not fiddle with too much because then I have to pester my Fairy Blogmother.

  7. Your header is very lovely Kim.
I always use PicMonkey and usually it does quite well. If you have PicMonkey I can give you some tips later - excuse me being really busy right now dear, but after the hols I wouldn't mind assisting!
I've just put up a new banner I made yesterday for Christmas.

Leaving now for another, one of many, 'granddaughter concert'. Try to attend all because we know she loves to see us there - and of course we love to hear her. She has the 'Let There Be Peace on Earth' solo today - she's a first soprano - so we'll be very proud!

    Happy holiday preparations.
    Hugs - Mary

  8. Hi, Kim...first, I know exactly what you mean about the blog headers. I can do it, but it does take some finagling :/ Second, I love your header. It came out beautifully and you look like a pro, so shhhhhh!

Your holiday photos get me in the mood. I love the holidays! Have a great weekend.

  9. I think your header looks very pretty and I didn't notice that it wasn't the right size. Have you tried using PicMonkey to make a header? It's a pretty user-friendly editing site.

Your photos are pretty and I love the white dishes and linen. Have a nice Sunday!

  10. It looks very pretty to me, Kim. I always stress about changing the header photos and I don't do it very often. I haven't even changed out the fall one yet. Sigh.
This is a wonderful season - lots of encouragement and inspiration out there in blog land. Have a wonderful week.

  11. You would be happy to know, that I immediately thought how pretty your blog looked, and never noticed that it was not centered until I read your post. I totally understand your frustration, and have experienced them many times. No matter what your difficulties, you continue to offer beauty and joy here. Love my visits!
