Just a reminder on this day before Valentine's Day.
With the holiday falling on a Friday, I imagine the restaurants will all be filled to capacity. We went into the city earlier this week for an early celebration. No big crowds that day.
The restaurant had a lovely patio for dining alfresco.
As it was cold and rainy, we opted for indoor dining.
We both enjoy halibut which isn't always easy to obtain on the east coast. "Just For The Halibut" caught our eye on the menu and it didn't disappoint. When the waiter brought it out, at first glance it looked like a dessert. The halibut was topped with crabmeat and resting on a potato cake with a layer of spinach between layers. A delicious sun dried tomato sauce was swirled around the bottom.
Yum!
I was able to enjoy it twice as the portion was way more than I could eat in one sitting. Although I should mention we also had a delicious salad and had to save room to share their famous carrot cake.
I'm thinking a pot of vegetable soup in the quiet of our own home sounds good.
How do you plan to spend Valentine's Day?
Sending LOVE your way.
Your dinner looked almost to pretty to eat . . . I did say almost, LOL
ReplyDeleteYour valentines decorations are so cute! I love the touch of blue scattered around.
ReplyDeleteWe are having our granddaughters overnight tomorrow. Maybe we'll go out for breakfast instead.
Oh my dinner sure sounds good!!!
ReplyDeleteNot doing anything special. We'll be having our usual homemade pizza but that is always special. :)
I really like halibut and turbot, but don't often have them. I like your tea towels with hearts - very swish!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought your halibut on a potato patty was a dessert too. Hope your Valentines Day is special.💗
ReplyDeleteMy new laptop somehow "magically" started working where I can leave comments once again on Blogger blogs! I've been faithfully reading your blog but haven't been able to comment until now. Your halibut dinner looks absolutely amazing. I have to admit - I've never tried halibut. I don't really like fish, so when I do eat it when dining in a restaurant, I tend to stick to mild fish such as cod or grouper. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteThese computers seem to have a mind of their own. Glad yours magically works again and thank you for continuing to visit. You have been missed.
DeleteIt's nice to celebrate special times. We are celebrating at home...more and more but that's nice too. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you celebrated Valentine's Day, my friend. Perfect. And I also love the shot of your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteCelebrating earlier in the week was a good idea. We also stayed home on Valentine's evening, which was just perfect!
ReplyDeleteCelebrating Valentine's Day early is a good idea. Your halibut looks delicious. And your kitchen is so pretty - love the heart patterned tea towels.
ReplyDeleteThat early celebration sounds perfect! The halibut dish with crabmeat and potato cake sounds absolutely divine—what a treat! I love how you balanced it out with lighter plans for the actual day. A cozy pot of vegetable soup sounds like the perfect way to unwind. Wishing you a lovely Valentine's Day tomorrow filled with warmth and good food!
ReplyDeleteSending LOVE right back at you!
