I'm Home, But My Computers Not

Hello again ~ long time no see.

When I started blogging it was instant love. So much fun as you all know. I remember in the very beginning being so pleased with myself that I could make a post and it actually "worked". So amazing for someone who knows so little about computers. And for that reason I also thought that as long as everything works as it's supposed to I can keep doing this, but heaven help me if something goes wrong.

Well, guess what?

While I was on my little vacation I guess my computer went on vacation too and along with it went my photos that were all nicely stored in Picassa :( They all left and didn't leave a note of where they went. Imagine that!!

So, I am at the mercy of waiting to see if my sons can fix it and if not then I guess I will be calling the Geek Squad.

Until then, I thought I would do a "pictureless post" (my least favorite kind) just to tell you I'm still here and itchin' to get back to posting. I'm getting a little grouchy being away from it so long :-) I am able to check up on all of your blogs and do this post on my son's computer. I tried to download Picassa on his computer so that I could add some new photos. Oh heavens, that was a process. I had to call him only to find out I needed passwords and other info. He said "wait until I come home and I will do it" Girls, I'm here to tell you I'm tired of waiting. Sure wish I was more computer literate. It would make things so much easier.

Sure do hope I'm back in business soon. Until then, I will be checking in with y'all and tomorrow is my mom's birthday so I'm taking a cake (her favorite - chocolate) to the assisted living center to celebrate her 85th year. Next week my sister will be coming in and we will celebrate again. So, there is a lot I should be doing around here. Maybe it's a good thing I am forced to curb my blogging. NOT!!

  1. Tell Mom Happy Birthday!

I had to call the Geek Squad about 1 1/2 yrs. ago and it was the best money I have every spent. Got things set up on my lap top and fixed my desk top and I was back to normal.
Sorry your pics went on vacation and I hope they travel back real soon.

  2. It's nice to hear from you! I hope you get things figured out! My hubby has to help me...computers are so frustrating! Welcome back! Have a good week!

  3. Oh it's no fun not to be blogging when you want to be. I know nothing about this Picassa business. I just keep all of my pictures in folders on my computer and upload them from there. I guess in eight or nine years, I'll have run out of space, though by then I'll probably have talked myself. Until the boys are able to get to it, you might find Google Images your best friend. :D

  4. It is good that you let us know your computer situation, because I was getting a little grouchy with not hearing from you. Just kidding! Seriously, I can totally understand your situation. I do not like being at my daughter's mercy when it comes to computers. I will patiently wait, but for now I want to extend birthday wishes to your dear mother, and to you as you help make her day special. Looking forward to seeing some more of your amazing photography, and your interesting posts.

  5. Oh, don't I know the feeling of not being able to blog for a while!!
Hope you get your pictures back.
A very Happy Birthday to your Mom. Wish I could share a piece of the chocolate cake with you and her. :-)

  6. I'm so sorry about your computer (been there)I'm eager to hear about your vacation!

  7. I am so sorry to hear about your computer's vacation and not leaving a note (you're so cute!). Any way, I am living in fear every day of my computer crashing and taking all my photos with it. I keep forgeting to get a jump drive and storing all of them. I need to do it as soon as possible. I would just be sick if I lost them. I wish you the best of luck.

    Hugs, Sharon

  8. Yikes! Picasa ran away from home?? Shame.

I have never called the Geek Squad but I would in a minute if this happened!

  9. Kim, I was getting a bit concerned about you. Glad you are fine. Computers are one of the most agravating things! If I didn't have a daughter to do most of the blog work for me, I wouldn't even have a blog probably. I am proud of you for figuring it out. I am just happy to see you here, pictures or no pictures. Have a wonderful day with your mom tomorrow! Twyla

  10. Welcome Home and Happy Birthday to your Mom.

I'm sure the pictures will be saved.

You are right about blogging. I feel the same way about it.

  11. How infuriating for you. I'm sure they are there somewhere, hope they return to you!

  12. I am so looking forward to you being able to post again. Thank you for your kind visits to my blog.

  13. I sure do look forward to visiting your blog again. I always find it so interesting. What fun to welcome you back!!

  14. Hi Kim,
Sorry your computer is down. Hope you can get your photos back, that is so frustrating.

Happy Birthday to your Mother! And have fun with your sister too.

  15. Oh wow, losing Picasa and your pics?? That would upset me!! I sure hope that doesn't happen here. I do hope you get things back up and running and retrieve the lost photos.

Hopefully, not too much of a wait left.

  16. Never ever stop blogging :). Way to fun.

  17. Kim,

I guess I was going to need Geek Squad too... I "lost" my pictures at the click of this button "delete"...

BUT somehow... with GrandmaK's prayer too (thanks to her)... the next morning they were found to have nestled in another "unexpected" folder....

I always enjoy reading your blog.
