Counting My Blessings on Mother's Day

On this day 23 years ago I became a mother for the first time. Ever since I was a little girl I knew that I wanted to be a mom. So, when this day came along I was very, very happy. My son Michael came into the world and I remember telling a friend that I would step in front of a speeding truck to protect this precious baby. What an amazing thing a mother's natural love is.

As a young mother I remember hearing older mother's tell me repeatedly to enjoy them now because they grow so fast. I must admit that while raising them there were days that seemed like years and I wasn't always sure these older mothers knew what they were talking about.

Now that I am an older mother I know better. Yesterday my first "baby" graduated from college. While I couldn't be prouder, I also had to wonder how we got here so fast.

On this day 21 years ago I became a mother for the second time. My second son, Jeremy came 7 days early. Older brother, Michael was thrilled to receive a baby brother for his birthday.

As the years went by I loved every minute of being a mother to these two boys. We had many weekends of back to back birthday parties.

They both developed an interest in inline hockey and we had many happy years of cheering them on and travelling around with them. For many years my husband was their coach and it created a wonderful bond. To this day they are still playing hockey together.

So now, on this Mother's Day 2009 I want to wish my 2 sons a very happy birthday and thank them for all the happiness they have given me . I love you now and forever guys and I will always be proud of you.

And to all my blog friends. . .
I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day.
