Signs of Spring

Our temperatures were near 60 today.

After a few weeks of cold weather, it felt so good to put on a light jacket and take a walk.

In my yard I discovered a few clumps of daffodils poking through the ground.

Last month when we were in Asheville, NC I took a few pictures of these flower pots. I was amazed that the one daffodil even had a bud. I liked the combination of plants they used and hope to try this myself next fall.

If you're still buried in snow and longing for Spring, I hope these pictures will offer some hope. When I lived in Michigan I sometimes felt like Spring would never arrive. There was no rushing it, but when it finally did come it was so worth the wait. I guess that's true of many things in life.

  3. Wow! You've been quite busy! I didn't realize how many posts I had missed. Love your winter look with your snowmen and your frosty decor, as well as the organizational tips. I've been trying to do a bit of that myself. I'm so happy you posted those flower photos! Today, it warmed up into the 40's after nearly two weeks in the single digits and low teens! We typically don't see daffodils popping through the ground until about mid-February...this is a great hold-over! = ) Blessings!

  9. We haven't had much of a winter in Kuwait and this is the time of year that everything blooms because nothing can grow during the summer months as it is just too hot! We cherish this time as April will bring scorching temperatures again and then not long after that, outdoor activities will be unbearable. Wishing you a most blessed and beautiful day. :) Tammy

  11. Hi Kim,
I can't believe the tops of your daffodils are popping up.
I took all ours out last year. They would come start to come up and then cold weather would get them and they didn't seem to bloom anymore. We replaced them with tulips which come up a little later and I hope will do better.
With all the rain we had for a while and then below cold temps. I don't like the way my pansies are looking. The cabbage plants are great though.
    Have a good weekend!

  12. Another time of visiting your blog and coming away refreshed, inspired, and anxious for Spring. Your new banner picture is so adorable! Your whole blog look is just beautiful! Since you live farther south than me, I hope you keep sending pictures of pots with blooming flowers in them, like the ones you shared today. I did not think I was anxious for Spring until I saw these pots. What fun to look forward to what is ahead. Thank you for the glimpse that you provided today.

Hope you are having a relaxing weekend.

  13. Oh Kim! Is it really possible that we'll see flowers peeping up through the earth again? You've given me hope! It's still the dead of winter up here in Michigan.

  15. I think we will all welcome Spring this year. I don't remember it being as cold as it has been...for a long spell...as it has been this year. Glad it has warmed up some!

  17. Hi Kim,
How funny! I did my file cabinet before I tackled the garage and emptied the shedder 3 times. lol
It makes me feel so good to get things accomplished and organized. I'm sure you feel the same.

  19. I was just looking again at the flowers you have coming out there. It's like a different country! We still have 8-12 inches of snow on the ground! It's been too cold for the local carwashes to stay open and our cars are filthy. The neighbor I got the machine from is actually Rob. My funny neighbor who bought the old house next door to me and across from him is 'Bill'. Think he got in over his head on the house and he's a little grouchy! Hope he does something with it this Spring.

  20. Thank you for sharing this little bit of spring with us, Kim.

The Narcissus were just starting to bloom here in Vicksburg, but the extreme cold snap a couple of weeks ago was too much for them. I keep looking and hoping to see some new ones coming up, but haven't seen any yet.

  21. Isn't it great to see things peaking through the dirt! It was really nice here in ATL too, although the rains are on the way!

  22. It is always summer here in Malaysia. Save for a short monsoon season Nov - January when it rains, sometimes very heavily causing floods, it is always sunny here.

However, I was lucky to have experienced living in the States for 2 years.
