~ A Simple Summer Supper ~

After a couple of wild storms this week, the basil plants had taken a beating.  It seemed a good time to trim them up a bit.

I just knew those "trimmings" would be perfect for the summer's first batch of pesto.  The kitchen smelled so good while I was working with the basil.  The recipe I like to use can be found here.

For years we have been enjoying this pesto slathered on nice crusty slices of bread.
Tonight I decided to change things up a bit.
After preparing some multigrain penne pasta, I poured the pesto over the top, sliced up a few tomatoes from the garden and . . .

dinner was ready.

Very fresh, very flavorful, very healthy and very easy.

Just the way summer meal preparation should be ;-).

  1. I love making basil pesto...looks so yummy!

  2. Oh, I would love to have fresh basil! It looks a lot like the mint I have. Love having the slices of tomato on the plate alongside any meal! Enjoy your day! It's beautiful here today! ♥

  3. Fresh Basil to use anytime - Wow! It must have a wonderful aroma while cooking. Your dinner looks so colorful and yummy and easy - good for the summer. :)

I am excited that my Zinnias and Petunias are growing. Planted them from seeds saved from last year's plants and it worked well.

  4. Oh it does look beautiful and so healthful, too. That it is easy is a bonus!

  5. Yummmm.... your healthy meal looks delicious.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. I wish I had some fresh basil growing here.

  6. My mouth is watering! That looks so good and healthy too.

  7. I would love to be seated at your kitchen table! I don't have the creativity for food that you have.

  8. What time is dinner? Wow! This looks so delicious! A dinner I would prefer. It inspires me to grow some fresh basil. Thanks for the idea, because it is almost dinner hour.

  9. I am very hungry right now. Looks so good.
