Just a few weeks ago I was . . .
Well, guess what?
:-), :-), :-)
Dreams really do come true!!!
For the first time since 1947 a white Christmas came to the Charlotte, NC area.
Since we never know how long our snow in the south will stick around, I was out at midnight with camera in hand.
I love the look of colored lights shining through snow-covered bushes. Sigh ~
There is just something so peaceful about freshly fallen snow.
Peanut thought she could enjoy all the peacefulness just as much from inside the house.
Despite receiving a new coat for Christmas, she thought the snow was just as pretty from the vantage point of her doggy bed.
As for me, I plan to get outside and enjoy the snow today. Maybe after that it will be time to enjoy the hot cocoa. I'm making the most of this white Christmas just in case we have to wait 63 more years to see another one.
The lights are still up and tonight there will be a fire in the fireplace, a new book is calling my name and the comfy chair is beckoning. Now is the time for relaxing. The hustle and bustle is behind us now. A new year awaits.
Here's hoping that you all enjoyed a lovely Christmas.
Merry Christmas Kim! I've just caught up on your posts straight back to November and had a chuckle or two along the way. :) I like the way you write. Poor Peanut -- I think I would feel the same way. We certainly are used to cold weather in these parts. Your hot chocolate snowman mug set is so absolutely adorable! Who wouldn't want hot chocolate served up so cute??!!! Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Best wishes for the week ahead. Tammy
ReplyDeleteReading about the Carolinas getting snow made me SO happy for you and my other southern friends. I loved the snow on the colored lights picture. Is it not almost impossible to finish up taking pictures of snowy scenes? Memory making especially when experienced with all five senses.
ReplyDeleteOh, you didn't tell us about the darling chocolate set...wherever did you find that sweet thing?
ReplyDeleteI heard about your snow...looks pretty!!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I agree, today is a day to put on pajamas early and snuggle with the Christmas lights and firelight with a good book.
Glad that you got the snow you've been wanting.
ReplyDeleteKay
Yay!!!! I knew you must be getting snow too! I'm soooo excited for you my dear! yay! ;o)
ReplyDeleteHow very cool! (No pun intended.) Even we did not get snow on Christmas Day; we're waiting for it to arrive now.
ReplyDeleteAs one who lives with snow every winter--and this month there's been snow on the ground since Dec. 1--I am very happy that you got to enjoy some of it down your way. I have a nephew visiting his folks in NC and he is thrilled with the stuff!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! It was great to see snow here in Charlotte wasn't it! Everything looks so pretty and everything is so nice and quiet!
ReplyDeleteI remember how excited we would have been to have a white Christmas in Texas, so I'm really happy for you. We have 7 inches on the ground. Even though we get a lot of snow now here in the Midwest, it isn't always this pretty right at Christmas. Let's just enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh Kim.... this is such a calming/peaceful post. The snow pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeletePeanut is so cute, I love how she has her little legs crossed.
Your plan for playing in the snow.... hot cocoa and a good book. Wow!
Hugs,
Hi Sweet Friend Kim,
ReplyDeleteI've missed you and so so so appreciated your comments. I know you understand all with my mom and that really means a lot. I'll get an email to you as quick as I can!
Wow! Snow in Carolinas! Wonderful for you! We haven't had but a few flurries and nothing to stick. I'll bet that was so fun and I love the idea of relaxing by the fire, with a book, and RELAXING...
Wow! What a wonderful surprise! My daughter went to her in-laws (a couple hours north of us) for Christmas Day and they had snow, too! I was so happy that at 23, she finally had a white Christmas! Doesn't happen often here in Georgia! BTW, your pictures are beautiful and creative. I like the colored lights through the snow, too, and the snow on your porch garland is lovely!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your white Christmas. The snow really is very pretty! We had some flurries during the day on Christmas and another dusting of snow yesterday. Nothing to speak of.
ReplyDeletePeanut is soooo cute!!
UP here in the west coast of Canada. .we had yet another green Christmas. OH ..but I am so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteDear Kim...beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing! Blessings ♥ Teri
ReplyDeleteI just stopped by to see how you Southern Belles were enjoying a taste of my usual winter weather! LOL Looks like you're enjoying it. :-) My husband always said the best way to make it through winter was to look for ways to play in the snow. Ice skating, toboggans, downhill or cross-country skiing...you name it, we did it. Now we're content to sit inside by the fire like you.
ReplyDeleteHoping your power stays on & you have a wonderfully warm & cozy week, Kim!
Merry Christmas!
fondly,
Rett
p.s. Yes, Please DO tell us where you got that hot chocolate marshmallow set!!!
Dreams really do come true! The snow definitely makes for a picture-perfect Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAs for us...we had mild temps and a green Christmas.
Have a great week...and all the best for 2011!
Very pretty, Kim

Beautiful pictures. We had snow here, too, and it was just the right amount and didn't interfere with travel. Snow just makes Christmas...well, more Christmasy!! ~Cheryl
ReplyDeleteI am just now having a chance to catch up on some of my blog visits but only because it is early in the morning. Our daughter's wedding is the the 8th of January, so life continues to be busy for me. But, I did really enjoy your "white Christmas" post. I felt the peacefulness as I looked at the snow pictures you so beautifully captured. I smiled at the fact that you were out at midnight snapping pictures. That would be me too. I liked the lit garland on your porch and the cute little jacket your Peanut had on.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you had a white Christmas because I know you get tired of pretending it will snow:) Thanks for sharing a few winter wonderland pictures with us.
