Sometimes ...

it really is the small things in life.
As much as I enjoy gardening, I rarely buy flowers for inside the house and I rarely force bulbs.
On a recent trip to the grocery store I added a hyacinth bulb in a vase of water to the cart.
Over the weekend it bloomed which has led me to wonder why I don't buy my own bulbs and do this every winter?
A small thing, but such a beautiful sight to winter weary eyes and the smell ... oh my, a breath of spring.

Another small thing ...
look what was sitting on top of my mail on Saturday!
An anonymous note ~ simple and sweet and sure to put a smile on the face of the recipient.
Today, I'm forwarding this note to each and every one of you.

Wishing you a happy start to your week!

  4. Oh that is a happy way to start a week. Did you find out who wrote the note?

Forcing bulbs is something I do not do either. Not because I don't enjoy the blooms, rather because I don't enjoy the aroma. You might want to do some research as I've always thought that bulbs forced inside cannot be used outdoors.

  21. Hi Kim, I like your new blog look for February. Very pretty! I've never forced bulbs either but after seeing all those out there in blogland, I am thinking I should. Unfortunately, I don't have windowsills to set them on. That note is definitely a sweet surprise. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Tammy
