Sweet Strawberry Dreams

Over the weekend my laptop decided to stop working.
Not yet three years old it seems the "mother board" has died.
Of course it would cost nearly as much to replace that as to replace the entire laptop so... who am I to question why my 20 year old refrigerator is still humming and my 13 year old washer and dryer are hanging in there, but my fairly new laptop has bitten the dust.
Moving on ....
When I re-installed Picasa today I noticed that this newer version has an editing option called "Edit in Creative Kit".  I made the simple collage above using that feature and found it to feel very similar to Picnik.  I'm not sure what that's all about, but I must say I like it.
I also spent some time today going through the links I have stored in "favorites" and came across a recipe for Strawberry Scones that I planned to try someday.

The local strawberries have been so sweet and I just happened to have some on hand.  Seemed like a good day to give that recipe a try.

So glad I did as they are yummy.
I know because I sampled one and I've reserved another one for breakfast.
It's now 11:15 and I'm headed for bed and anticipating sweet dreams of strawberry scones and piping hot coffee.

If you'd like the recipe it can be found here.
I would have typed it out for you, but in order to give the proper credit it seems like you should see her pretty pictures and post...  not to mention the sooner I get to bed, the sooner I wake up to another scone :-).

Pleasant Dreams!!

  2. Yummm. They look delicious...your scones. I'm always scared my laptop will crash one of these days. It's 5 years old...and has had the blue screen of death on several occasions. Like you...I think 5 years is new. They just don't make things like they used to!

  3. I'm keeping this recipe for when I get back from Africa and have time to bake - and hopefully find local sweet strawberries still around! they look/sound awesome.

Sorry about the laptop - nothing is made to last long these days. We use Macs now and absolutely love them - would never return to PCs just too much trouble. We just had to replace our 26 y.o. 'frig and know this new one will never last anywhere near that long.........of course we might be pushing up daisies by then too, lol!!!! Our washer/dryer coming up to 13 years also, would enjoy the fancy new-fangled models but hope these keep running for a while - they do a great job still.

    Be happy dear -
    Mary

  4. Yes, it's just as simple to send us off... I do that a lot, too. They are beautiful things by the way...

So sad about your laptop. If it's any consolation, my 7 year-old fridge is limping along. Sigh. They just don't make things the way they used to.

  11. Those scones looks wonderful! My sympathies to you on the kaput of your laptop. Computers are a necessary evil, aren't they? And I'm with you - dryers last 10 year, water heaters last 20, etc. Why can't they make a computer that lasts a long?

  12. Hi KIm, if the sconces taste as good as they look, then you have been in strawberry heaven! I probably would have gotten up during the night just to have one with that first cup of coffee. ~smile~
Thanks for the news about Picasso, I really need to lean how to edit my photos! I too am always afraid my lap top will die, as it is only two years old, and I have been having some problems lately.
Enjoy your beautiful garden, my dh mentioned to me yesterday of how well my hydrangeas were doing, you would be proud. ~smile~
    Enjoy your week.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  13. Kim I absolutely want that recipe! I love strawberries! My grandkids are coming to visit next week (from Delaware) and it looks like something they might like. It looks yummy! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.. Now you're really walking me down memory lane! I remember the Mai Kai theater. When I was a LOT younger that theater was so elegant! Do you ever get back to Michigan to visit? Glad you liked the garden tour. I hope to feature many more this summer. I love what you did with Picassa. I haven't tried that program yet. I've been using PicMonkey which is pretty easy. Sorry to hear that your computer died so young :(
