Decorating Elements From Nature

Adding one more thought to my previous post . . .

In my efforts to simplify the seasonal decorating, I'm looking at nature's gifts in new ways.
This morning I gathered a few hydrangeas, beautyberries and zebra grass tassels.
I rather like the textural, autumnal feel it adds to the dining room hutch.
The gravy boat in the background is filled with pecans given to me by a co-worker.  She found the nuts that had dropped all over her yard to be a nuisance.  As much as I love pecans, I found the process of shelling them to be a bit of a nuisance.  I do, however, love the looks of them in fall décor.

Best of all, when the season is over, I can toss it all.
No storage space in the attic required.
Win~Win.

  1. I don't think I've heard of Beauty berries but they do add to your pretty arrangement.
I enjoyed the peek at your dish cupboard display. You know how I love dishes.

  2. I agree! Storing decorations isn't fun. We end up with so much! I like your display very much, Kim!

  3. Your floral arrangement is gorgeous! Never heard of beauty berries. When you're done using the pecans as decor, throw them outside for the squirrels!

  4. I'm trying to go in this direction. Didn't get a thing for fall and gave most of my fall decor to my daughter. Nature is always the best answer!

  5. What a lovely arrangement of flowers, so pretty.
Great idea about the pecans in the gravy boat and going for the natural fall decorations.

  6. I love what you have written and read both of these posts of Fall decorating. I have dreaded getting out my Fall boxes and putting things out. Maybe I'll go simpler this year. I already have a BIG basket of pinecones! (for a year now! hahaha) I forgot the throwing out part. Happy Fall! Maybe it will cool off soon and put us in a Fall mood! Hugs!

  7. I wandered in to give you a *poke* and see that it is I who needs one. I like your decor from nature. I don’t know about cracking pecan shells, but I just bought a package for seasonal baking and the price nearly made me faint. For that reason, I’d love the gift from a neighbor’s yard.

(This comment is making a liar out of me! You’ll know why when you read my email. Blogger is not happy with me lately.)

  8. Just checking in on you Kim, I am trying to get back to blogging regularly. I love the hydrangeas, sometimes simple is so nice, this year I went a little overboard since i didn't decorate last year and we had several parties scheduled. Now I have to take down and pack away, to make room for Christmas.~smile~ The dinnerware looks like the one my MIL had and somehow don't know who received it after her death, I always loved it.
    Have a blessed weekend.
