Sunday is the day we drive out to the new house to check progress.
Things are moving right along and yesterday I remembered to take some pictures.
The driveway and windows are in.
I realize the building process may not be too exciting for some, but I'm recording it to look back on the process as it unfolded.
If this holds any appeal to you, I invite you to step through the front door and take a peek.
This week we were surprised to see all the drywall has now been installed. Every time we visit the place is immaculate inside.
It's kind of hard to make sense of the whole layout at this point , but here we are a few steps into the front entry.
The large opening to the right is called a "flex room". In other words, use it for whatever you want... a dining room, office, living room, etc.
Just past this room is a small courtyard with the kitchen across from it on the left. The long vertical piece you see on the left will be a large island.
Past this area will be the family room on the right.
The kitchen table will sit in front of the door wall at the end of the picture.
Have I confused you yet ;).
Now, about that kitchen...
It's the room you are looking at here and the room that sold me on the floor plan. Doesn't look like much now, I know.
The vertical piece in there is another island where the kitchen sink will be. In the foreground (with my purse on it) is the location of the island previously mentioned. This will become our new dining area. No more formal dining room for us. We're going casual this time around.
Family room view.
Fireplace coming soon.
Master bedroom window view.
I'm already picturing my reading chair positioned there.
By the time we finished checking things out yesterday we were nearly melting. The heat and humidity continues!
While standing on the back patio I spotted this sign of things to come.
🍁🍂🍁
They are estimating our house to be ready for move in by late November - early December.
This house will be going on the market September 1st. It may seem to you like I've been talking about this for ages and should be moved in by now. Ha! A lot has been going on behind the scenes with getting this one ready for selling and purging our belongings. I think the end is in sight and, at this point, will be relieved when the For Sale sign goes up and order must be restored to the rooms.
It's been all consuming and that also explains why I haven't been commenting on your blogs much. I try to keep up with what's happening out there in blogland but just can't let myself get too sidetracked or I'll never be done with the work at hand.
I hope you are all enjoying the waning days of summer.
Looks fabulous, so many people are building new homes these days and I am enjoying watching! Don’t worry about reading blogs now; you have bigger and better things on your plate.
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting, Kim! I love seeing the progress and it looks like your new home will be beautiful! How far is it from where you're living now?
ReplyDeleteMelanie, It's about 45 minutes away.
DeleteYour new house is coming along nicely. I'm sure it's exciting for you and maybe stressful with all the decisions that building a house brings... rug or hardwood, colours of walls, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe setting of your new place looks very lovely with lots of trees around.
I'm so happy for you! The house is to the point that you can really visualize the rooms and how everything will work. It will be so nice! I know it's a lot of work but you're going to love moving into it and making it beautiful! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour house is so nice and looks like it is moving right along. It is all so exciting and I'm so happy for you. Love the big window in the bedroom. I'm planning on having a reading spot by a window in our bedroom too. : )
