While planting pansies this weekend . . .
I couldn't help but smile at the beauty of these little flowers.
It felt good to get them all planted before the rain started this morning. You can't beat a good rain to get your freshly planted flowers settled into their new homes. I really want them to be happy because they make me happy with their sweet little faces.
Actually, we've been having such a nice fall that it's hard to not be happy.
The days have been perfect for porch sittin'.
Rocking in the rocker watching the leaves fall while sipping a mug full of warm, spicy cider. :), =), :).
The Sugar Maple tree outside my kitchen window is starting to change. It won't be long until we can sit at the table and look out at a sea of yellow and orange leaves.
And speaking of the kitchen table, this old dough bowl filled with gourds, leaves and acorns from a backyard oak tree is making me smile too. It's such a simple way to bring a little of the outdoors inside.
My husband will be smiling at the breakfast table tomorrow when I serve him a pumpkin spice scone. I must admit I partially bought these for the most adorable packaging. But since he helped me plant all of those pansies, I think I'll roll up my sleeves and lovingly bake him some scones.
He'll never know that all I had to do was add some water and bake.
I love the dough bowl! And the pansies, they are such cute little things! It is a beautiful time of year! :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeletePansies always make me smile, too.
And I have none. That doesn't make sense, does it.

Hello Kim, I' ve been reading your blog for quite a while now and have been enjoying each and every post.
ReplyDeleteToday I just had to comment on seeing that delicious scone mix. I live across " the pond" in the Netherlands but have lived and studied in de US. Every year I (try) to travel to the US not only to enjoy but to do LOTS of shopping!!
Thank you for sharing and making me remember all my happy US days ...fond memories!!!
Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful pictures! I love the way you inserted a plant into a Jack-O-Lantern. What a great idea! The scones sound like they would be wonderful. I hope your having a great week!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet post...the simple joys of life. Your yard is looking delightful and with the added color will be over the top gorgeous. Love the dough bowl filled with gourds and even acorns...great idea. Hope that your hubby loved those scones. How long will your pansies last? They're all gone here.
ReplyDeleteI'm always so excited when I can buy pansies in the Spring! I manage to make them last through the summer by cutting them back constantly. Your dough bowl looks beautiful, full of all those gourds!
ReplyDeleteYour pansies are beautiful! I may just have to get some in some pots. You inspire me! I was a little busy cleaning out spring flowers and felt so sad about that. Pansies would definitely perk me up! Your home is always so lovely and inviting looking.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to a post about scones!! :0)
I love pansies, too! They do look happy! Funny about "just adding water"! I bet he will enjoy them. I have my grandmother's dough bowl. I only use it to make biscuits. My husband was cleaning fish he had caught one time (years ago) and while I wasn't looking, he put the fish in my dough bowl! He found out real quick..... that was not a good idea! :-)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, your new banner is beautiful! It makes me happy just to see it each visit. As do the pansies. Their cheerful little faces remind me of my grandma and all the pansies she so lovingly planted each fall. The rocking on the porch, the dough bowl so perfecly filled and the pumpkin scones, all brought me a feeling of friendship and warmth as I thought about them. Always an encouragement to visit this blog. Thank you for adding joy to my day so often.
ReplyDeleteOh the pictures of your pansies are so lovely! :o) Wonderful pictures of fall! :o) Hope the scones were a success! :o)
ReplyDeleteI love pansies and always enjoy them in the fall and throughout the winter. It is nice to have a little touch of color when the weather gets cold. Love your dough bowl filled with fall gourds. So pretty!! And those pumpkin scones sound delicous!!! I love anything pumpkin, especially in the fall. Yes, we love our chihuahuas. They are such sweet little dogs. We have brought ours up to be very friendly. They love people and all the attention they get!! They aren't a bit spoiled, as you can tell. LOL! Have a nice week. Love & blessings from NC!
