Had you been present at our breakfast table today you would have heard the following conversation:
Him: The other day on the radio they were talking about whether you drink the milk that's left in your bowl after the cereal is gone or toss it.
Me: I usually drink it unless it is too sweet from the sugar in the cereal. In that case I would toss it. I'm sure this was bred into me by my frugal mother. In fact I remember my mom and her best friend having this very conversation years ago. Her friend was a "milk tosser" and my mom couldn't believe that she would waste good milk like that. :D.
As the conversation progressed, he suggested that I put it to the bloggers. See how highly he thinks of you.
So, if you eat cereal and care to participate, the question is:
What do you do with that milk remaining in the bowl once the cereal is gone? Drink, Toss or perhaps something else all together.
Oh, and in case you're wondering, he drinks it too.
Just think, we've been married for 33 years and are still learning riveting information about one another :D ♥ :).
Drink it, always. I can't imagine wasting milk. The trick was to making the cereal last almost as long as the milk.
ReplyDeleteI drink it too. :-)
ReplyDeleteInteresting question. I have the knack for putting in just the right amount of milk so there is none left over. : )
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I drink it....and eat cereal with the lowest sugar content possible. It still tastes nice and sweet though, doesn't it? Hope you're warm and snug this week! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha! I toss it. Rice milk anyway.
ReplyDeleteDon't eat a lot of cereal, but I use almond or rice milk, and drink it.
ReplyDeleteI never eat cold cereal only oatmeal with cream and brown sugar!!! Naughty but oh so nice to the very last spoonful!
ReplyDeleteBob eats cold almost daily and I know that he drinks every drop of milk. He too was brought up by frugal parents who never wasted anything - that was the way back then for most families.
Stay warm - it's a bit of a struggle with these temps. I used to love Winter, think I'm changing my mind this year!
Hugs - Mary
P.S. Pretty bowl and mug Kim.
I eat both hot cereal and cold...oatmeal is eaten with cream...yummo! It's good to the very last drop, either milk or cream. I try not to waste anything, including the milk at the bottom of the bowl. Since I rarely add sugar, it's never too sweet. And I don't drink it; I continue to use the spoon...because I'm civilized and all that. ; > Fun question!
ReplyDeleteWaste not, want not....one of my mom's quips...so I drink

Ha! This is cute ;D. I drink the milk; it's just too yummy to throw away. I don't eat a lot of cereal anymore, but I do love Uncle Sam's on occasion and I add berries, nuts, and sometimes a little raw honey...so the left over milk is always good.
ReplyDeleteJoy to your day, Kim...

Ha! Fun to read this post. I haven't had cold cereal for a few decades, but when I did, I would either drink the milk afterwards or add more cereal to use up the milk. The problem came when you then had too much cereal and needed to add more milk, etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I did find it rather riveting. Sounds like conversations around here. LOL
I am a bit odd......I eat cereal dry as a snack! Only time I added milk was years ago when I used to enjoy Cocoa Pebbles! They made chocolate milk!
ReplyDeleteI rarely eat cold cereal, but when I do...I use a spoon to drink the milk. I don't like to waste anything!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Kim!
lol! just stumbled upon your blog.. and got a good chuckle out of your topic of conversation. Im not a big fan of drinking milk.. but I do occasionally eat cereal.. when I do its more like a binge. And so.. I just keep adding more cereal until the milk is pretty much all gone.. and then walk away with a very full belly! that is why I dont buy cereal very often! LOL! just had to share that tidbit with you.
ReplyDeletehappy Day!

I was raised by a frugal mother too, and I do drink my remaining milk. I don't eat sweet cereals, so I can tolerate drinking the milk. Great question! It gave me a smile this morning. Thanks!
