A Happy, Happy Day

Do you know what's even nicer than a cookie jar with a little birdie family on it?

That would be one that is filled to the brim with homemade chocolate chip cookies.
Do you know what's even nicer than that?

Well, that would be when those homemade cookies were baked and placed into that cute cookie jar by a dear blog friend.  A dear blog friend who, until now, was only known through our blog communications.

That all changed when Happy One (aka:  Karen) contacted Happy@Home (aka:  me) to see if we could meet for lunch last week.  Seems Karen and her husband, Ken, were going to be passing through our area on their way to South Carolina.
I couldn't say "yes" fast enough.
Karen was one of the first people I met when I began blogging.  She has been inspiring me with her daily walks and happy outlook on life for all of these years.  It was a dream of mine to think that we would meet (in real life) someday.
When that day arrived, the conversation flowed and (much too) soon it was time for us to go our separate ways.
Through my years of blogging, I've read the stories of so many of you who have met one another in real life.
I must admit, after all these years, this is my first time.
I feel like a real blogger now :D.

Along with that cookie jar filled with Karen's famous "chocolate chippers", she gifted me with these adorable salt & pepper shakers.
They are going to fit in so nicely around here.

Especially after our first 20 minute long snow event.
Glad I happened to be looking out the window when it happened.
I'm also glad we were able to meet Karen & Ken for lunch.
It was a Happy, Happy day and one I won't soon forget.

  2. This is so awesome, Kim, Karen is a blogging friend of mine too! She also inspires me to walk! I haven't had the privilege to meet any of my blogging friends yet, but hope to someday! I see you got some snow flurries, we haven't gotten any yet here in the sandhills, but it is cold so I guess winter has finally arrived!
    Enjoy your week,
    Blessings,
    Sue

  5. That is so wonderful! I'm so glad that you could meet her for "real". I am rather shy about meeting new people but I did meet one of my blogging friends after I found out she lived in my area. She had set up a booth at the local farmer's market and I got up my nerve and went and introduced myself to her.

  7. All smiles here! I have been blessed by Karen's cookies myself so I know what a treat you have there. They are uniquely good! And Karen knows your colors very well so you have a cookie jar perfectly suited to your kitchen. So glad that you dear ladies were able to meet.

  8. Such a lovely story Kim - so glad you and Karen (and of course your handsome guys) were able to meet at last and had such a great time together.
Our snow fall was just that also, a snow fall which never stuck, I still want at least a light covering one day soon! It is cold here.
    Hugs - Mary

  9. Hello Kim,

I found your blog through reading Happy One's blog. Isn't she just the sweetest person? We live in adjoining counties and soon after I closed my blog Karen and Ken met us at a restaurant close by and we enjoyed a delightful evening together. I loved it that my husband and Ken talked and enjoyed each other's company as much as Karen and I did. :) We've also shared fun at an auction house together. Great people!

You have a beautiful blog and I am bookmarking it so I can come back for another visit. :)

    1. Hi Dianna,
Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself. You are so right. Karen is just as sweet in person as she is on her blog. How neat that you live close to each other and have developed a nice friendship. It was a pleasure for us to meet both Karen and Ken. I agree with you, they are great people!

  13. That's such a delightful post, Kim! I'm thrilled to hear you were able to meet your friend and her husband. Love the photos. Oh, I must say that her cookies look like they have the most delicate texture - am I right? The salt and pepper shakers are so cute - I know what we'll be seeing on your Christmas tablescape next year :)

    Blessings,

    1. Yes, you are right. They did have a delicate texture and a nice shape which she told me she achieves by using the Pampered Chef small cookie scoop.
