Cookies and Convection Ovens

I've been craving cookies for a few months now.
Homemade chocolate chip cookies with oatmeal and perhaps a few cherries thrown in for good measure.
For the most part I've been able to ignore the cravings.
That is until today.
A pop up thunderstorm created just the atmosphere for summer cookie baking.

I've been playing around with a new to me feature in ovens...
the convection feature.  It was a success with the cookies.
After all these years of using a plain old oven, I'm trying to decide when it is best to use the convection feature or is it best to always use it?  Just wondering if you have any thoughts on the matter?

I'd be happy to share a cookie with you.
Since that's not possible I'll do the next best thing.
Chocolate Chip Cherry Oatmeal Cookie recipe can be found here.

Enjoy!

  1. I have a convection option in one of my ovens. I love it for roasting because it cuts the time down, roasts thoroughly, and browns the top. I don't have much experience with cookies because I am not much of a baker.

I don't have the convection feature on my oven so I can't say.

  3. Those cookies sound delicious. I inow nothing of convection ovens...less time in the oven to bake?

I've never had or used a convection oven so have no idea.

  5. We had one in our motorhome but I couldn't really tell any difference. Maybe I didn't use it enough! lol Cookies sound so good. I can make some oatmeal without using sugar but they are not really worth the trouble. Cookies without sugar....just not the same! Enjoy your week!

  6. It's a cool day here, and perfect for cookie baking. But I think I'll bookmark that delicious-sounding recipe and plan for another another day. Of convection ovens I know nothing!

  7. Hi Kim, your cookies look delicious! I don't know much about convection ovens, as I don't have one - except on our toaster oven. I do use that feature when cooking/baking anything in that oven, though I haven't noticed a difference with that kind of cooking and my regular (non-convection) oven! I'm guessing a Google search might supply the answer!
