I couldn't resist this cute little doll when I saw him in a thrift store. His little head is shaped like a peach and what a sweet face he has.
I have one peach tree in my backyard. This is how the peaches look today. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they stay on the tree and reach maturity. Last year they got to this point and one day they were completely gone. No sign of them at all - not even a pit on the ground.
~ Blueberries ~
Blueberries are another favorite. So good on cereal and they are great in waffles, pancakes, muffins and quick breads. Last week I tried a new recipe for a lemon/blueberry bread. It was tasty.
I found this cookbook at the Goodwill. I am looking forward to trying some new blueberry recipes. Imagine that . . . an entire cookbook dedicated to the blueberry.
~ Cherries & Raspberries ~
What's not to like about these 2 beauties. Just the colors alone are enough to make me love them. Sometimes I mix raspberries and blueberries together and use them on top of cereal or yogurt. It has such a patriotic look to it. Cherries will always hold a special place in my heart. I was born and raised in Michigan which is known for it's sweet cherry production. When I was a kid my grandpa lived in Traverse City and we used to go visit him every year when the cherry festival was going on.
I hope that wherever you live you are enjoying the bounty of nature.
Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog, and for your kind comments. Summer fruit is the best, isn't it? I've been enjoying cherries and watermelon lately, although I can't wait for our local peaches. :)

Mary
Hi Kim
ReplyDeleteI love it when the local fruit comes in. That's the best. I see you like blue! I have a little cow creamer just like yours.
By the way I love the name of your blog. I am "happy at home" too!
