2 of my favorite things.
Look at the darling faces on these children and how about the clothes they are wearing to garden in.
Each page you flip up shows a different flower the kids plant and by the end they have a beautiful flower garden. Then if you want to play around a little bit, you can add a bench, some pots, a watering can & garden tools. My sister-in-law gave this to me last year for my birthday and I was one happy gal. Playtime!!
I'm sure I had this same haircut in second grade.
Such sweetness ~ such innocence.
I don't know what it is about the artwork in children's books from the 40s, 50s and even 60s that I love so much. Probably brings back happy childhood memories. Whatever it is, I can't resist them. They are one of my favorite things to find when I'm out thrifting. There is one artist from that era that I especially love. Maybe one day I will do a post about her artwork.

I love old children's books, too - these were a treat! It's a great idea to collect ones with a similar theme.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning! Loved this post. We are on the same page, aren't we? I love old children's books too. I think it's because the children are so innocent looking. The illustrations in today's books just can't compare. Can't wait to hear who your favorite illustrator is! Have a nice day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteThose books are works of art. I can see why you cherish them so.
ReplyDeleteAnd the picture you had of the tiny clogs, absolutely precious.
Have a great weekend.
