Snowy Days ~ A Feast for the Senses

The sight outside my window this morning.

In the quiet morning hours, the only sound to be heard is sleet hitting the front door & windows.

The smells inside the house ~ fresh brewed coffee.
Is there a better smell to be found on a day like today?

The books have been chosen and my sense of touch will be satisfied when I curl up under my soft afghan and settle in for some reading.

I love reading about Gladys Taber's life at Stillmeadow, her farmstead in Connecticut.  The illustrations are so cozy.
This is exactly the kind of reading I am looking for on a day like today.

I know the birds will be enjoying the taste of the sunflower seeds I have put out for them.

Snow, on that note ...
I'm off to enjoy a warm & cozy day.

  2. Oh delicious! Now I must add Gladys Tabor to my reading list. It's just the sort of book I'd love for these bitter cold days. Stay warm, Kim!

  3. Gorgeous! I love a snowfall like this (provided I don't have to go anywhere!) It is so very beautiful. Glad you're able to stay cozy inside with some coffee, your favorite afghan and some good books. Enjoy!

  4. I'm new to your blog; not sure where you are located. In NC we got about 5" with more snow/sleet coming to the Triad. I baked/cooked up a storm (no pun intended) yesterday getting ready for being snowed in. By 7am my bird feeder was getting slammed by cardinals and chickadees. I adore your header; my favorite toy as a child was my kitchen set! xo,

  5. What a lovely post and a perfect day for indoor activities. If you want to see flowers and green stuff, check out my post for the day -- the complete opposite of what you are experiencing. I haven't had a chance to wear my winter scarves at all this year. Enjoy the books. Blessings, Tammy

I'll post some pics like yours sometime soon.
Your Gov. has called a state of emergency and the Guard are on their way.
Stay warm and enjoy your books.

  9. How unusual for you to have snow and we do not. Your snow pictures are so beautiful and your afternoon plan sounds so perfect to me. Reading, a cup of coffee and a warm afghan...what could be better on a Saturday afternoon!

I just looked out the window and it has started to snow here. That along with the bitter cold weather might have me doing the same thing as you.

  13. Curl up and enjoy. And while you're drinking that nice cup of coffee, imagine I'm sitting down in a similar spot here and having coffee with you with my own book in hand!

  16. Hi Kim
You had a lot more snow than we did. I know reading is the perfect activity for a snowy dayand I love Gladys Taber's books. Just wanted to let you know I have made a different button for White Wednesday because someone else is doing it too. I've changed it to Wednesday Whites,so as not to be confused with it. So please use the new one. Thanks!
    Hugs, Rhondi

  20. Your snow is most pretty! Add some coffee, a good book and a cozy blanket...and have a perfect winter scene.

We could use a little snow out our way...what with winter games about to begin.
