I've recently been enjoying the opportunity to peek into other kitchens at Heather's This Week In My Kitchen::Blog Hop. This week I thought I'd join in the fun.
Between my small garden and a first trip to the farmer's market, we've been enjoying a bit of farm to table dining.
The first local strawberries have arrived. As soon as I neared them at the market, the smell permeated the air. Oh, what a difference from those grocery store berries :). When I spotted the rhubarb it was instantly decided that strawberry rhubarb crisp would be on the menu.
It looks like we ate a lot of the same things this week, except I have never eaten rhubarb.
ReplyDeleteLove your roses, mine are pink.
Every thing looks so delicious! I love rhubarb anything. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love the farm to table concept and feel guilty not growing edibles (other than herbs) this season. We will be gone for June so having a veg garden is out of the question, BUT, perhaps in July I can rustle up some late season delicacies such as tomatoes, and I'd love to grow some winter squash!
ReplyDeleteYour strawb/rhubarb crisp looks wonderful Kim, I love that fruit combo. I have local strawberries and must run out later for rhubarb! I'm also making spinach/zucchini soup today - one of our favorites with a nice crusty baguette.
Happy day - stay cool it's warming up here to 90, whew!!!

What delightful glimpses into your kitchen from the fresh as can be lettuce to the rhubarb-strawberry crisp...oh yum. The smell of strawberries...nothing like it!
ReplyDeleteMmm, everything looks so good and beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteThe roses are beautiful! We are looking forward to a trip to the farmers market for the first time this week ourselves. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love rhubarb and strawberries! Your crumble (pie?) looks delicious. And so does the lettuce in the first picture. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose pictures make me drool, and I don't even like rhubarb!
ReplyDeleteYou have strawberries and rhubarb already. Love!!!! Everything looks great.
ReplyDeleteNothing any better than fresh farm produce, I also love to visit our Farmers market. Everything looks delicious, Kim, enjoy the fruits of your labor. Blessings,
ReplyDeleteSue
Love your pics--the lettuces are especially lovely! I think this might be the year that I have to try rhubarb!

I love these photos of what's been happening in your kitchen. The blue flowered pitcher is so charming. Local strawberries taste nothing like the crunchy, flavorless ones from across the country. Strawberries and rhubarb are a match made in heaven!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE strawberries and rhubarb. I made a fruit salad today and put one of the biggest strawberries I've ever seen in it. Took a picture but forgot to post it today. I will tomorrow though.
ReplyDeleteGreat kitchen pictures!!! I'm hungry now. : )
Nothing better than fresh fruits and veggies. I made big salads for lunch today and remembered to take some photos. We have an abundance of good choices here in Florida, too! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt is almost 9:00pm, and who would think that I would find myself hungry at this time, but I am after seeing every one of your outstanding pictures. Your food photography is exceptional! You certainly did bring farming goodness to your table! In my mind it is the perfect match...strawberries and rhubarb.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely Mother's Day weekend!
This is a fun meme. I follow The Blessed Hearth and she participates in it often. I also can't wait for fresh strawberries. We will have our own rhubarb but will have to wait for it to grow. The leaves are unfurling already. The strawberries will be a few weeks yet. Your photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour crisp looks delicious!! Can't wait for strawberries and rhubarb here.. Love your photos.. So much fun peeking into everyone's kitchens...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love the homegrown greens and that vase is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos... thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos. Roses, zucchini, greens, rhubarb... all look so good! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so beautiful! Nothing better than fresh and homemade. Have a wonderful day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteOh we love rhubarb around here!!! Right now we have three rhubarb plants in the garden, but since it's the first year we can't really harvest any. I bet the crisp was fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt's all looking most delightful over here! Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks delicious Kim. I love the combination of rhubarb and strawberries...yummy!
